Why restart?

Restarting clears temporary glitches, frees memory and finishes installing updates. Closing the laptop lid or using Sleep does not do the same thing.

Restart properly

  1. Save your work and close your applications.
  2. Windows: click Start, the power icon, then Restart. Mac: choose the Apple menu, then Restart.
  3. Wait for the computer to fully start again before reopening apps.

Check for updates

  1. Windows: open Settings, then Windows Update, and click Check for updates. Install any updates and restart if asked.
  2. Mac: open the Apple menu, then System Settings, General, Software Update, and install available updates.
  3. Keep browsers and apps such as Chrome, Zoom and Adobe Reader updated as well.

If XaaS Techs manages your device, most updates are installed automatically. Please restart when prompted and at least once a week.
