Before you start

  • Have your work computer and your smartphone ready
  • Install the free Microsoft Authenticator app from the Apple App Store or Google Play

Set it up

  1. On your computer, go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and sign in with your work account.
  2. Click Add sign-in method and choose Authenticator app.
  3. Follow the prompts until a QR code appears on your screen.
  4. On your phone, open Authenticator, tap the plus sign, choose Work or school account, then Scan QR code.
  5. Scan the QR code on your computer screen.
  6. Approve the test notification on your phone to finish.

We recommend also adding a phone number as a backup method in case you change or lose your phone.

Signing in day to day

When you sign in, you will see a number on your computer. Enter that number in the Authenticator notification on your phone to approve the sign-in.

If you receive an Authenticator request you did not start, deny it and report it to us immediately. Someone may have your password.

Getting a new phone?

Set up Authenticator on the new phone before wiping the old one, or contact us and we will help you re-register.
